Painted plein air on a glorious April day at the north rim of the Grand Canyon north of Mather Point. The blue, pink and purple color transitions in the canyon depths were unbelievable .
I stayed at the national park for five days to paint in May. Unfortunately high winds and frosty temperatures made it very challenging to paint except on this one fabulous day. Several times wind gusts almost took my entire metal Soltek easel over the edge despite heavy rocks weighing it down. Painting the grand Canyon is a glorious and challenging experience.
